Sustainability & Climate Change Education Programme
The Sustainability & Climate Change Education Programme is an international exchange designed for young learners in Ghana. Students embark on a transformative 9-day journey to Hamburg, Germany — where they engage with nature, science, culture, and global citizenship in ways that will shape their futures.

Climate Change Essay Competition
The essay competition is our selection process. Students who submit a compelling, thoughtful essay will be shortlisted for the programme. This is your opportunity to show us how you think about climate change and what you can contribute to the world.
"Climate Change in My Community: What I See, What I Hear, and What I Can Do"
Requirements
Write 1000–1200 words describing climate change effects you observe in your community, how it impacts daily life, and concrete actions you would take as a climate ambassador.
Judging Criteria
Originality, local observation, proposed solutions, and clarity of expression.

Requirements
Write 1200–1500 words analyzing Ghana's environmental history, current climate challenges, and a forward-looking action plan for sustainable development.
Judging Criteria

Everything You Need to Know
The programme is open to students currently enrolled in Ghanaian schools who are between the ages of 11 and 16 at the time of the programme (November 2026). Students must submit an essay as part of the application process.
Students aged 11–16 are eligible. There are two essay categories: Ages 11–13 and Ages 14–16, each with a topic appropriate to the age group.
Yes. All students travel with qualified adult chaperones from the Shout Africa Foundation team. Students are supervised at all times throughout the programme.
The programme covers flights, accommodation, meals, all activities, and educational materials. Families will receive a detailed cost breakdown upon selection. Sponsorship opportunities are available for deserving students.
Selection is based entirely on the essay competition. Essays are evaluated by a panel of educators and climate experts. The strongest essays from each age category are shortlisted for the programme.
No prior knowledge is required. The programme is designed to introduce and deepen climate understanding at all levels. Curiosity and enthusiasm are the only prerequisites.
Student safety is our highest priority. All participants are accompanied by trained adult supervisors. We work with established German partner organizations, and all activities are age-appropriate and risk-assessed. Parents receive regular updates throughout the trip.
